Verrucae Treatment

Verrucae (plantar warts) can be stubborn and often need a course of treatment rather than a single appointment. We typically recommend bi-weekly visits to monitor progress and apply the most suitable treatment for you.

Depending on the size, location and how long the verruca has been present, we may use Verrutop or Plasma therapy to help reduce and resolve the verruca safely and effectively. Your clinician will advise on the expected number of sessions after assessing your feet.

How To Spot a Verruca

A verruca is a wart on the sole of the foot, caused by a viral infection. They’re very common and often painless, but they can sometimes become uncomfortable—especially if they’re in a weight-bearing area.

Common signs include:

  • A small, rough or thickened area of skin on the sole

  • Pain or tenderness when walking or when squeezed from the sides

  • Tiny black dots (often called “seed” spots) within the lesion

  • The normal skin lines may be disrupted around the area

There are several treatment options available, and the right approach depends on the type, size and number of verrucae present. We’ll discuss the best plan for you at your appointment and guide you through what to expect.
